Amal Centre for Cultural Studies (ACCS) is a research centre of the college. Its prime objective is to promote studies on Culture and Society. It envisages a variety of cultural, educational, and literary activities to be held on the campus and within reach of the community. It would also function as a provider of opportunities for dialogue and exchange of ideas on socially important issues. A centre of this kind, we believe, is of importance in the context of the fast, massive cultural shifts and changes overtaking society everywhere. Besides, as an academic discipline, Cultural Studies is gaining ground in Universities the world over. In this respect, too, Amal Centre for Cultural Studies is of paramount relevance.
Nalakath Beeran Haji and Dr. M. Usman Memorial Lectures
The Centre proposes to conduct, annually, one lecture in honour of the memory of Nalakath Beeran Haji and Dr. M Usman, the founders of the Nilambur Muslim Orphanage. The lecture would be on any relevant contemporary issue and would open up discussions on it. This venture on the part of the Centre is to keep alive the memory of the services rendered to the Orphanage and to the society by Nalakath Beeran Haji and Dr. Usman.
