About
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centres (IEDC) are platforms set up by Kerala Startup Mission with an aim to provide students with an opportunity to experiment and innovate. IEDC works as the first launch pad for a student’s entrepreneurial journey and provide them with access to cutting edge technology, world–class infrastructure, high–quality mentorship, early risk capital and global exposure. Amal College established its IEDC in 2019, which is currently active on campus and engages in innovative activities. The center has received a working grant of Rs. 2 lakh from the Kerala Start-Up Mission to support its activities.
Activities
The IEDC at Amal College conducts various activities to promote entrepreneurship among its students, such as idea presentation competitions, participation in K-SUM Idea grant competition, entrepreneurial mentoring sessions, motivation visits to industrial units, and AI and robotic workshops. Over the last five years, Amal IEDC students have won the prestigious Idea Grant of Rs. 2 lakh from the Kerala Start-Up Mission multiple times and has also been shortlisted in the same competition several times. About
Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are in formative years. The Amal IIC was founded in 2019 and is currently operational on campus with active student involvement.
Activities
At Amal College, our IIC is dedicated to fostering collaborative activities on campus with major higher education institutions and industrial organizations. This joint effort allows us to pool resources for better utilization, and our students regularly participate in the national-level Idea Hackathon organized by the IIC each year. As a result of their outstanding contributions, some of our students have been shortlisted to visit premier IICs at the national level for presentations. Additionally, four of our faculty members have completed the IIC’s Innovation Ambassador Training Programme and are now working to promote an innovative ecosystem in neighboring institutions.
