On June 27th, 2022, the Department of Psychology at Amal College of Advanced Studies, Nilambur, in collaboration with Vimukthi Mission Kerala State Excise Department, organized an awareness program in honor of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Zacaria TV, the Principal of Amal College.
The program was facilitated by Mr. Ebin Sunny K, a Civil Excise Officer, who served as the resource person. The objective of the program was to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and the illicit trafficking of drugs, both of which pose significant risks to individuals, communities, and society as a whole.
During the program, Mr. Ebin Sunny K spoke about the prevalence of drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Kerala and the country as a whole. He also highlighted the adverse physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug abuse, including addiction, health problems, and legal issues.
The program provided valuable information to students, staff, and the general public regarding the causes, consequences, and prevention of drug abuse and illicit trafficking. It was an opportunity to learn about the importance of making healthy choices, seeking help when needed, and supporting those who are struggling with addiction.
