The Department of Commerce and Management Studies (DCMS) at Amal College of Advanced Studies, Nilambur, has introduced a pioneering educational initiative titled the ‘Sensex Tracker.’ This innovative teaching method is designed to keep students informed about the latest financial market trends by displaying the previous day’s closing value of the Sensex on campus.
The initiative was officially inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Shameer Babu T, in a ceremony attended by Dr. Abbas Vattoli, Head of the Department of Commerce and Management Studies, along with other faculty members. The ‘Sensex Tracker’ is updated every morning by a team of dedicated students, ensuring that the entire campus stays abreast of the latest movements in the stock market.
The student coordinators for this initiative—Fidha, Hiba Rosna, and Jenna—play a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and relevance of the information displayed. This daily exercise not only helps students develop a keen understanding of financial markets but also encourages them to stay informed about economic developments, which is essential for their academic growth and future careers in commerce and management.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Shameer Babu T praised the initiative, emphasizing its importance in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. He also lauded the efforts of the department in continuously innovating and providing students with practical learning opportunities.
The ‘Sensex Tracker’ is yet another testament to the department’s commitment to enhancing the educational experience of its students and preparing them for the dynamic world of finance.
