On July 7th, 2022, an industry-academia meeting was conducted by the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management with the HR teams of Qatar Star Services L.L.C. The meeting aimed to provide an opportunity for the academia and industry to exchange ideas and discuss trends and challenges in the tourism and hospitality sector.

The meeting began with an opening address by the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management. This was followed by a presentation by the HR team of Qatar Star Services L.L.C. on the company’s recruitment process and the skills and qualities they look for in potential employees.

Academia representatives then presented their research findings and insights into the latest trends in the tourism and hospitality industry, including the impact of technology and changing consumer behavior. This was followed by a Q&A session, where the HR teams asked questions and sought clarifications from the academia.

The meeting concluded with both the academia and industry expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to exchange ideas and insights. They also agreed to continue the collaboration and work towards bridging the gap between academia and industry to better prepare students for the workforce.
